To our delight, the main racing day of the Sales & Racing Festival turned up plenty of reason for celebration for our breeding operation, as several offspring of our sire Soldier Hollow reached placings at group level.
Nearly a length behind our two-year-old queen Dhaba, Gestüt Wittekindshof’s Serienholde was runner-up under Jockey Daniele Porcu with a head advantage over Pagella, ridden by Michael Cadeddu. Serienholde is by Soldier Hollow out of the Highest Honor-mare Saldenehre, who is the dam of group winners Serienhoehe and Serienschock. She is in training with Andreas Wöhler. The Jens Hirschberger-trained Soldier Hollow-filly Pagella was bred by her owners David and Hans-Peter Schön out of Princess Lala, who is a sister to group winners Point Blank and the 2013 German Derby winner and freshman sire Pastorius.
Only an hour later, Soldier Hollow’s Maningrey reached a more than respectable third place in the €55,000 group 3 Baden-Württemberg Trophy, which was also the twelfth leg of the renowened French racing series Le Defi du Galop. Despite taking almost a full stop in the final stretch, Maningrey developed incredible speed and passed the wire as third after 2,000 meters. Andreas Suborics rode Maningrey for trainer Waldemar Hickst and owners Gestüt Höny-Hof.
