A very strong field met in today's €52,000 auction race over 2400 m on the opening day of Baden-Baden's week-long meet, whereby Wiedingen-bred QUEEN JOSEPHINE drew a great amount of well-deserved attention to herself. The filly by SOLDIER HOLLOW out of our Shirocco-mare QUINTESSA ran a formidable race and, thanks to a powerful finish, beat the eight-placed of the German Derby, Andoro, to second by a neck. Wladimir Panov was in the saddle for Munich-based trainer Michael Figge, who co-owns QUEEN JOSEPHINE with Hubert Gentner. |
