Two-year-old fillies met at Iffezheim racecourse in the opening race of the undercard to the Große Preis von Baden to battle over 1400 m on good going, and the challenge would soon turn into a special highlight from the perspective of our stud farm as the first three of the race are progeny of our champion sire SOLDIER HOLLOW. The fact that Wiedingen-bred FLAMINGO GIRL won the race, which serves as a trial for the champion race for two-year-old fillies later in the year, was of course the icing on the cake for us.
Lukas Delozier guided the daughter of our top-mare FLAMINGO SKY (Stefan Hahne/Henk Grewe) through a thrilling finish to a tight win by a head advantage over Auenquelle-bred VIVE EN LIBERTE in whose saddle was Adrie de Vries for owners Stall Mandarin and trainer Yasmin Almenräder. Only a neck behind Stall Grafenberg's SIDONA (Marco Casamento/Waldemar Hickst) ran a formidable race in her first time out and secured a third place thanks to a great effort down the stretch. We are certain that we will hear more good things from these three fillies in the near future! |
