We are slowly running out of superlatives when it comes to this horse! MOCKINGJAY by our champion sire SOLDIER HOLLOW closed down his racing year with his sixth win in his sixth outing at Berin-Hoppegarten today, and he did so in a fashion that left us all gasping for air. The five-year-old went head-to-head with Be Sweet down the final straight and looked beaten at least twice, though he continued to dig deep and found more ... and more to stick his head in front at the post. Filip Minarik, who praised his partner as a special horse, was aboard for this win in a 1600 m level 1 handicap.
MOCKINGJAY has improved from the lowest to the highest handicap class in one year under the tutelage of his trainer Frank Fuhrmann and earned €40,050 along the way. His owner Steffi Schröder bought the Bruemmerhof-bred SOLDIER HOLLOW-son at the 2017 BBAG October Sale for €5,500. |
