The seventh race of the Cologne card saw a very special debut from our perspective with DEIA having her eagerly awaited first career outing. The three-year-old SOLDIER HOLLOW daughter had her first career start in a race for fillies over 2200m and fulfilled all expectations. Martin Seidl was aboard the Markus Klug-trained DEIA, who ran a great race coming from the back of the pack. Leaving the final turn, the filly was wide awake and certainly hinted at her class in the final two furlongs when she drew clear by two lengths with apparent ease.
DEIA is by our champion sire SOLDIER HOLLOW out of our top mare DIVYA; hence, she is a full sister to the Derby second and stallion DESTINO and the 2017 Horse of the year DSCHINGIS SECRET, who has taken up stud duty in France. On the way to this year's German Oaks, DEIA's next start could come in the G2 Diana-Trial at Berlin-Hoppegarten in two weeks. |
