VIRGINIA JOY, this year's third-placed in the German Oaks by SOLDIER HOLLOW, had her first outing following the classic in today's T. von Zastrow-Stutenpreis at Baden-Baden and finished with a strong second place. And even though the Auenquelle runner had anything but a sub-optimal trip in the €70,000 G2 race for fillies and mares, having to go four wide around the final turn, she finished only two and a half lenghts behind the winner at the 2400m marker. Adrie de Vries was in the saddle for trainer Marcel Weiß. |
