A length break since August of last year did not keep the Andreas Wöhler-trained AXANA from triumphing at Berlin-Hoppegarten today. In the €15,000 Preis des Gestüts Röttgen (LR), the mare by SOLDIER HOLLOW showed her female opponents over 1600 metres to the places in impressive fashion, scoring easily by three and a half lengths. Jockey Eduardo Pedroza did not reach for the whip even once on five-year-old AXANA, who was a two-time G3 and G2 placed in her three-year-old campaign, illustrating the mare's phantastic form at the beginning of this year's stakes season. |
