Four-year-old and older mares met today in the first highlight of Hanover's card in the battle for Black Type. Also in the mix in the Listed level Göddert Sybrecht Memorial race over the mile were the two SOLDIER HOLLOW daughters MARSHMALLOW and MRS APPLEBEE, and both ended up settling the race between them.
Coming from midfield, champion jockey Bauyrzhan Murzabayev sent the Peter Schiergen-trained MARSHMALLOW into the lead in the deep straight, where the Brümmerhof bred drew away with ease to record a confident win by two and a half lengths. Two lengths behind, Gestuet Auenquelle's MRS APPLEBEE, trained by Roland Dzubasz, was the only competitor able to follow her. Ridden by Michal Abik, the four-year-old secured the place of honor with a lot of momentum and completed a double Black Type success for our three-time champion sire.
