VIRGINIA JOY by SOLDIER HOLLOW continued her success streak in the U.S. tonight German time and did so in a brilliant manner. The five-year-old Oaks third breezed to a domineering gate-to-wire victory in the €200,000 Gr.2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes over 2,200m at Belmont Park. When the Auenquelle-bred mare passed the post in what looked like a canter, she had already put six and a half lengths behind herself and the field. Trevor McCarthy was in the saddle for owner Peter Brant and trainer Chad Brown, who is likely to saddle VIRGINIA JOY in a Gr.1 contest soon. |
