In his last outing of the year, our derby winner SAMMARCO confirmed once more his exclusive class when finishing second in today's 60th running of the 155k Gr.1 Preis von Europa at Cologne. Bauyrzhan Murzabayev settled the Peter Schiergen-trained colt midfield along the rails and gave him a perfect, ground saving trip. When the field hit the final turn under a good pace, SAMMARCO kicked off powerfully and fought as grandiose as always.
In a thrilling duel with Rebel's Romance, the Camelot colt fought gamely yet had to succum by three quarters of a length after 2,400 metres. Altogether, he ran a formidable race once more and will now head into his well deserved winter break. |
