Yesterday, Shanjia, a four-year-old daughter of Soldier Hollow, won the Prix Radio Balance, an 1800m Listed race at Clairefontaine racetrack in France. Owned by racing stable Stall Carneval, Shanjia is in training with Iffezheim-based trainer Conny Brandstätter, who had given the mount to top-jockey Ioritz Mendizabel. Mendizabel asked the filly for a late run from the back of the pack, and her devastating speed proved too much for Andre Fabre’s Keegsquaw and the Wertheimer-owned favorite Foreign Tune, who came in third.
Shanjia is out of the Monsun-mare Shivara, a bloodline combination that has a proven success record as it mirrors the one of German distance crack Pastorius, who is by Soldier Hollow out of Princess Li (Monsun). |
