| There was nothing sad about the show Soldier Hollow’s Shadow Sadness put on at Frankfurt racetrack this afternoon! He entered the gate under jockey Rene Piechulek as the biggest long shot in the field and, after 2000 meters on very soft turf, developed incredible speed and passed the wire with a secure 1 1/2 lengths advantage to triumph in the Gr. 3 Frühjahrs-Preis des Bankhauses Metzler (€55,000). The bay colt was bred by Michael Herrmann out of the Lando-mare Shadow Queen, which makes him a brother of Ittlingen stud’s group winner Survey. Shadow Sadness is in training with multiple champion trainer Christian Freiherr von der Recke for Stall Blau-Weiss in Weilerswist and has a standing nomination for the German Derby in July.
