DSCHINGIS SECRET by our champion sire 2016 SOLDIER HOLLOW out of our top-mare DIVYA, was crowned Horse of the Year 2017 at today's opening of the German Grand Prix season in Cologne. The now five-year-old stallion, who had delivered a great four-year-old campaign in the colors of Horst Pudwill, was honored with this coveted title alongside his trainer Markus Klug and his breeder Helmut von Finck after the fourth race of the day’s card and was also presented with an extra portion of carrots.
The 2017 Horse of the Year award is truly the culmination of a extraordinary year for DSCHINGIS SECRET. The colt won the oldest public voted for title in German sport by 56.6 percent of the votes and, thus, also proved his great popularity with expert horse racing fans. For four group victories, including a fantastic performance in the G2 Qatar Prix Foy against the G1 winner Cloth Of Stars and his victory in the G1 Große Preis von Berlin as well as a strong sixth place in the most important race of the European horse racing season, the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in which Cloth Of Stars finished second, DSCHINGIS SECRET was rewarded with a GAG of 100 kg at the end of the year. The title HORSE OF THE YEAR 2017 pays tribute to the Soldier Hollow-colt in a very special form and makes us look at our small breeding operation with loads of pride and deep gratitude. |
