Gestuet Auenquelle bred G1 German Oaks third VIRGINIA JOY made her US debut at Belmont Park tonight and presented herself in top form. Thanks to high basic speed, the four-year-old filly by SOLDIER HOLLOW found a race cut out for her in the $94,000 challenge for three-year-old and older fillies and mares and easily jumped away from the field in the comparatively short final straight. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. put his hands down prior to the post and left no doubt as to who was boss in the race.
Chad Brown prepares VIRGINIA JOY for Peter M. Brant, who purchased the filly as the 975k top seller at last year's Arc Sale and most certainly has high plans for her. |
