In an epic finale, Park Wiedingen's SAMMARCO put in a fantastic performance against his rivals today at Cologne and triumphed in the most important preliminary test for the German Derby, the €70,000 Gr.2 Union-Rennen over 2200 metres.
The colt, trained by Peter Schiergen and ridden by Bauyrzhan Murzabayev, demonstrated a real fighter's heart when. After an undisturbed race, he entered the final straight in third place and charged to catch the leading So Moonstruck, who looked set to win.
