Park Wiedingen-bred WINNING SPIRIT, prepared by Peter Schiergen for the owners syndicate Liberty Racing 2021, made an impressive annual debut in Italy today and put himself on the map for this year's classics with a strong performance in the €49,200 Premio Emanuele Filiberto (LR, 2,000 metres). The SOLDIER HOLLOW colt was piloted by Leon Wolff to a commanding win by five lengths, showing his strong turn of foot on the soft Milano turf despite carrying top weight.
This was the third career win for WINNING SPIRIT, who has entries in the Union-Rennen and the Derby. The colt is a full brother to our Champion2YO WHISPERING ANGEL and our top campaigner WESTERN SOLDIER, recently runner-up tat Gr.3 level, as well as the Gr.3-placed WANGARI. |
