After many good performances, the four-year-old SOLDIER HOLLOW daughter ALASKASONNE finally booked her first Group win today. The Gestüt Röttgen-bred, who was sixth in last year's German Oaks, benefited from a tactically perfect ride by Andreas Helfenbein in her victory in the €55,000 former Spreti-Rennen.
The veteran jockey put ALASKASONNE to the lead from the start and slowed down the pace so that the speed horses could not find their higher gear in the final straight. Instead, the SOLDIER HOLLOW mare just kept rolling on, and after 2000 meters had wrapped up her first Gr.3 victory with an advantage of just under three lengths.
