Trainer Markus Klug presented Stall Simply Red's SOMMELIER improved from handicap level to Listed win at Baden-Baden today. The four-year-old by SOLDIER HOLLOW sparkled with a great run in the 2800m Steher-Cup with Andrasch Starke aboard where he drew clear by nearly two lengths with apparent ease. This was SOMMELIER's fifth win this year, whereby the gelding most likely has not yet reached his performance zenith.
In CALICO another SOLDIER HOLLOW progeny finished in the Back Type ranks. The four-year-old trained by Peter Schiergen for Gestüt Fährhof entered the race as a three-time winner and finished with a game third place under Lukas Delozier after a rather unfortunate trip.
This result crowned a very successful day of our champion sire SOLDIER HOLLOW, who not only had the winner of the feature race in WAI KEY STAR, but scored two wins in the undercard with WILD PAPILLON and PRINCESS KAHENA. The latter won the level 3 handicap over the mile in commanding style, scoring confidently by four lenghts. |
